When in slideshow mode, F5 brings a navigation window. With those builds 1.3.x, the window is actually there, but *below* the show instead of on top of it, and it is actually not accesible via ALT-TAB (it remains hidden). In fact, once F5 is pressed, only escape will stop the show and give back control. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open a presentation 2. click on the "show" button 3. press F5 Actual Results: Nothing visible, keys stop working Expected Results: a small navigation window popping up openoffice-1.1.2 behaves correctly. Workaround: use openoffice-1.1.2 or stick to space, return and arrows in ximian-openoffice
Sorry, where I said openoffice 1.1.2 it is really openoffice-bin-1.1.1
openoffice-1.1.4 still works right, while openoffice-ximian-1.3.6 still is broken.
I don't exactly get what you mean. Does this happen when you go in Slide Show / Full Screen Modus?
Yes. You go to Slide Show mode. There, F5 is supposed to bring in a navigation window. In openoffice it works; in openoffice-ximian the window is there (ALT-Tab shows a small square) but it never gets drawn, and focus gets lost. Only pressing ESC and getting out of Slide Show mode allows me to recover control. This is under gnome (~ppc), i.e., a fairly modern set of gtk+ and the rest of libraries. But, built with the same environment, "plain" ooimpress 1.1.3 and 1.1.4 work as intended, so I bet it is a bug in one of the ximian patches.
ok, thanks for clearing that up and I can reproduce it, now we just will have to find out what causes it ;)
Another hint: while the splash in "plain" openoffice.org refuses to hide when I click windows around it, the one in openoffice-ximian goes beneath those windows. This could be related (kind of modality used). Take it with a grain of salt. I'm a good debugger, but hopeless in C++ X11 UI development. :-)
Just for reference, the bug you've filed upstream ;) http://bugzilla.ximian.com/show_bug.cgi?id=70485
Workaround: using OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=kde (or none), the Navigation window behaves correctly, so it is almost surely a gtk problem.
@Santiago: With 2.0 it looks like the navigation window is gone at all, can you confirm this. At least the control is not being lost anymore here
2.0? No 2.0 ebuild for linux-ppc. So I haven't seen it. All versions of openoffice-ximian (the problem is gtk+ specific) show the same broken behaviour.
app-office/openoffice-2.0.0 (which replaces openoffice-ximian) has it all and is available for ppc
Closing this bug, as stated before, this should be no bug anymore on OOo 2.0. Please reopen if I'm wrong. Thanks, Santiago, for your tries to get this fixed...
