If you are using binutils-2.30, it fails to install with signal 8. binutils-2.29.1 works fine. So, I suggest that we add binutils-2.30 to package.mask or drop the fbsd keywords from it for a while. Thanks. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge -u binutils 2. binutils-config x86_64-gentoo-freebsd11.1-2.30 3. . /etc/profile 4. emerge freebsd-sources Actual Results: <snip> ===> zlib (install) install -T release -o root -g wheel -m 555 zlib.ko /var/tmp/portage/sys-freebsd/freebsd-sources-11.1_p2/image//boot/kernel/ kldxref /var/tmp/portage/sys-freebsd/freebsd-sources-11.1_p2/image//boot/kernel *** Signal 8 Stop. make[1]: stopped in /var/tmp/portage/sys-freebsd/freebsd-sources-11.1_p2/work/sys/modules *** Error code 1 Stop. make: stopped in /var/tmp/portage/sys-freebsd/freebsd-sources-11.1_p2/work/sys/amd64/compile/GENTOO
