they are built in the compile stage, and lives in mozilla-firefox-1.0_pre/work/mozilla/build/unix however, that directory doesn't seem to get its "make install" run. This prevents using firefox as a rendering backend for apps like epiphany which could theoretically build against firefox Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Additionally firefox would need to install its include files and such...
yes.. Actually this would be quite nice to have, since firefox is a slightly smaller install, and there seems to be quite more support for firefox than there is for mozilla recently. :-) (Also, buildseparation in dependencies are nice to have ;)
Original author and / or anybody else who is allowed to do so: Please change severity to at least major - because it is an easy to fix (IMHO) but still a major problem for for third party programs (another example: Gnome's new prestige project: beagle) Is there any reason NOT to run "make install"?! Nearly every source code for GNU/Linux provide make rules for "install" and there is a reason to do so. I'll check if there is any reason not to run install for myself and post again if any problem occured.
It does not have anything to do with make install! My current firefox-ebuild (since 1.0.2-r1) copies .pc files. Make sure you use it from the bugsreports. See http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=86070 for ebuilds. Don't use the ebuild from portage. It has been b0rked by Brad Laue. For unknown reason, but it sucks as much as he does. Sorry, but this is my opinion.

Sorry, but this is my opinion. Lets keep your opinion of such things off the bug reports please. This is fixed in the latest releases. As most know epiphany can link against firefox without problems along with many other applications.
closing as fixed
