Using the KDE 3.3.0 packages, the "logout" menu option and applet cause system to crash.  System becomes unresponsive, to ctr-alt-bksp, ctr-alt-del, and any attempt to switch consoles.  A telnet session can be used to gracefully killoff all kde processes and restart X.  Problem occured immediately following upgrade to 3.3.0 on Sep 16th, 2004 as part of emerge --update --deep world. 

last emerge sync and --update --deep world ran on 22 Sep 04.  

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Use either KDE logout applet or menu option

Actual Results:  
Screen goes black.  Laptop battery power meter appears in upper left corner.  
System becomes unresponsive as in above details.

Expected Results:  
Kicked user back to xdm login screen.
