We might want to mention Gentoo's history, how it grew from Enoch to what it is now. Yes, the same stuff that is listed in the articles on IBM's DeveloperWorks, albeit a bit shortened.
Here are the pages from IBM DevelopperWorks on Gentoo (by Daniel Robbins): http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/library/l-dist1.html
Created attachment 41200 [details] A Brief History Its a small write-up on the history of Gentoo to be added to about.xml. Since I didn't find about.xml, this is a .txt file. I just copied the text verbatim & wrote up the "A Brief History" Section. I did refer to the IBM Developworks Article by Daniel Robbins.
Nice text, I'll see that it gets added to the website :)
Cool :) Any changes to it? Or does it look ok as it is?
Maybe this : Teams of volunteers help keep Gentoo on the bleeding edge and patched to ensure maximum security. Should Read: Teams of volunteers help keep Gentoo on the bleeding edge and patched to ensure maximum security & stability.
A really small nitpick. I'd also change ("Gentoo Linux in a paragraph", 2nd sentence) "Extreme performance, configurability and a top-notch user and developer community.." to "Extreme configurability and performance, top-notch user and developer community.." Everybody talk lately how much Gentoo is about configurability/tunability and not as such about performance, and here we are - having performance #1 thing throughout the docs :). George
Fixed in CVS. Thanks for the input!
