when i use xorg-x11 (latest ~x86) with the mga driver on my 1064 based matrox cards (with or without xinerama) i get broken root window backgrounds and application content / window borders are cluttered / become gibberish / get broken. The bug is illustrated here: http://freedesktop.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1089 and the solution is here: http://freedesktop.org/pipermail/xorg/2004-May/000776.html and here: http://cvsweb.xfree86.org/cvsweb/xc/programs/Xserver/hw/xfree86/drivers/mga/mga_storm.c.diff?r1=1.100&r2=1.101 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. use mga driver 2. start xorg 3. launch any app and move it around for a bit Actual Results: window contents / borders / desktop bg breaks up and you get distorted visuals. Expected Results: move / display window contants / bg / borders properly Portage 2.0.50-r10 (default-x86-2004.0, gcc-3.3.2, glibc-2.3.2-r9, 2.6.7) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.7 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1800MHz Gentoo Base System version 1.4.3.13 distcc 2.13 i686-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [disabled] Autoconf: sys-devel/autoconf-2.58-r1 Automake: sys-devel/automake-1.8.3 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O3 -march=pentium4 -pipe -mcpu=i686 -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /usr/share/texmf/dvipdfm/config/ /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/ /usr/share/texmf/xdvi/ /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O3 -march=pentium4 -pipe -mcpu=i686 -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs ccache sandbox" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.osuosl.org http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="X aalib alsa apm arts avi berkdb bitmap-fonts cdr crypt cups directfb encode esd foomaticdb gdbm gif gpm gtk2 imlib java jpeg libg++ libwww mad mikmod motif mozilla mpeg mysql ncurses nls oggvorbis opengl oss pam pdflib perl png python quicktime readline ruby sdl slang spell ssl svga tcltk tcpd tetex truetype x86 xinerama xml2 xmms xprint xv zlib"
We'll let fd.o deal with this.
This should be fixed in all current X versions.
Marking fixed.
