Description Christopher Crammond 2004-09-21 10:29:43 UTC
On Monday 09/20/04, I emerge --update world and upgraded my Gentoo system. Of consequency, my thunderbird mail client was upgraded from version 0.7.3 to 0.8. At present, this application is not working properly.

The app will start and everything look normal, but I cannot see any of my old mail nor can I check for new mail. When I click on different folders, nothing happens, likewise when I click on the Get Mail button (or hit that from the File > Get New Messages For > or the keystrokes CTRL+SHFT+T).

I happen to notice that when I start this application, the following error message shows on the command line:

fgrep: /usr/lib/MozillaThunderbird/defaults/pref/thunderbird.js: No such file or directory

I looked around on the web and the proposed solution that I saw was to re-install the app with the Mozilla Installer.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
Uh, do an emerge --update world last night. ;) Emerging mozilla-thunderbird should do the trick.
Actual Results:
Mozilla thunderbird update to version 0.8, but seems to have left out a file
during the uninstall process.

Expected Results:
Ideally, Thunderbird should have installed thunderbird.js.

Yups, I have the same problem, but when I start it, it tries to download mail from an IMAP-server and crashes when I hit the start button. These are console messages:

bash-2.05b$ thunderbird
fgrep: /usr/lib/MozillaThunderbird/defaults/pref/thunderbird.js: Onbekend bestand of map
No running windows found
/usr/bin/thunderbird: line 388: 18929 Segmentatie fout $mozbin "$@"

Fixed in recent mozilla-launcher

emerge --sync
emerge mozilla-launcher

Thanks for the report.
