Every time app-backup/bareos is re-merged it fails to protect any files in /etc/bareos (at least while on clients). Because of this the contents of /etc/bareos/bareos-fd.d/director/bareos-dir.conf, which contains the credentials for the BareOS Director, gets overwritte Because of this every time app-backup/bareos is re-merged BareOS needs to be reconfigured for to ensure backups can be made successfully.

Steps to reproduce:
* emerge -1 app-backup/bareos
* A new password will generated for /etc/bareos/bareos-fd.d/director/bareos-dir.conf and replace the previous one
* Backups fail after service restart

The ebuild does not mess with CONFIG_PROTECT at all, so I assume your setup does.

Please post 'emerge --config' froma system where that happens.

Did you have this problem with newer versions as well?
If yes please repoen this bug and I will update it.
