Description Jean-Michel Smith 2002-08-14 17:53:17 UTC
If you try and follow the instructions for creating a "form letter" in the open
office help, none of the templates (or sections of templates) it describes are
present.

To see this, select File->New->Tempates and Documents

You'll get an error message saying samples are missing, then the usual window.
The only tempate available is default, and if you click on Samples you will get
the same error message again.

It appears some of the default and sample templates Open Office expects to have
installed aren't being installed by the OpenOffice-bin ebuild, and possibly not
by the openoffice (compiled-from-source) ebuild, though I haven't checked the
latter.

In any event, it makes putting together a form letter rather difficult without
the sample to start from, and I suspect other common tasks are likewise more
difficult for unfamiliar users to learn without these samples present.

not really sure how to respond to this bug. The windows 643 build only
includes 4 templates, and none of them pertain to things like form letters or
the like. They actually are for presentations. I have installed 1.0.1 for
windows, and i see no templates included on there. I'll leave this open, and
if you guys have any ideas let me know. If not, i'll close it in a couple of
weeks, becuase its an OOo thing, not a gentoo ebuild thing...

If someone wants to write an OOo-templates ebuild, i'll be more than happy to
put that in portage...

Not a gentoo thing, general to OOo
