Comment 1 Mike Gardiner (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-11-06 01:02:47 UTC
please post the output of
qpkg -I -v docbook-xml
and
qpkg -I -v docbook-xsl

and update all of those packages to their newest available versions.
Comment 2 Branislav 2004-11-09 07:34:07 UTC
Same problem here.

The requested outputs:
qpkg -I -v docbook-xml
app-text/docbook-xml-dtd-4.2-r1 *
app-text/docbook-xml-simple-dtd-1.0 *
app-text/docbook-xml-simple-dtd-4.1.2.4 *
app-text/docbook-xml-dtd-4.3 *
app-text/docbook-xml-dtd-4.1.2-r5 *

qpkg -I -v docbook-xsl
app-text/docbook-xsl-stylesheets-1.66.1 *

These are the latest versions available by yesterday.
Comment 3 Stephane Loeuillet 2004-11-14 06:59:17 UTC
see bug #71156 for the same problem with gurlchecker-CVS and gnome-vfs-2.8.3

i fixed it installing docbook-xsl 1.67.0 manually (not in portage)
(was failing with 1.66.1)

could someone confirm it please ?
Comment 4 Stephane Loeuillet 2004-11-14 07:02:43 UTC
i also updated those two :
app-text/docbook-xml-simple-dtd-1.0
app-text/docbook-xml-simple-dtd-4.1.2.4

as they had -r1 versions which where not displayed when doing "emerge -uDpv world", they never show so i didn't know i could update them

so, please first try to only update to db-xsl 1.67.0 (just rename the ebuild), and report if gtk+ compiles with this one

if it doesn't work, do :
emerge =app-text/docbook-xml-simple-dtd-1.0-r1 =app-text/docbook-xml-simple-dtd-4.1.2.4-r1

then retry to install gtk+
Comment 5 Dan A. Dickey 2004-11-29 09:43:14 UTC
A good hint in comment 4 from Stephane.
It looks like my system may be having emerging gtk+-2.4.13-r1
due to a missing /usr/bin/build-docbook-catalog.
Not sure how it went missing, but a re-emerge of build-docbook-catalog seems
to allow a subsequent re-emerge of docbook-xsl-stylesheets-1.66.1 to succeed.
Before re-emerging build-docbook-catalog, this did not work because
of build-docbook-catalog not being found.
So, gtk+ is attempting to emerge again, I'll let you know in a bit how it went.
Comment 6 Dan A. Dickey 2004-11-29 09:49:57 UTC
Proofread proofread proofread.
s/having emerging/having trouble emerging/ in comment 5. :)

And, so - on another system I have build-docbook-catalog-1.2 emerged,
but also no /usr/bin/build-docbook-catalog.
But am only on docbook-xsl-stylesheets-1.65.1.
Curiouser and curiouser...
Comment 7 Dan A. Dickey 2004-11-29 10:43:26 UTC
Ok, so - the emerge of gtk+-2.4.13-r1 successfully emerged on my system
after I:
    1. re-emerged build-docbook-catalog (1.2)
    2. re-emerged docbook-xsl-stylesheets (1.66.1)

Good luck all.
Comment 8 Mike Gardiner (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-12-20 03:51:51 UTC
Docbook problems, looks resolved now.
