There seems to be something wrong with the manifest file.

Try to rebuild the manifest file:

# cd /var/lib/layman/mozilla/www-client/firefox 
# ebuild firefox-59.0_beta9.ebuild --force manifest

and then emerge firefox again.

Rebuilding manifest manually works for me.

We have no ideal the state of your overlay. I have already fixed the manifest once.
