hello, i have a big problem with the actual samba package and if i remember right, with all newer packages. after some days or weeks, the samba shares are dead. i can connect to samba, but every client which connect to the server will hang. if i kill all smbd and to be sure, all nmbd processes and reconnect the clients, it works again. i think, there must be a deadlock or endlessloop in samba. goodby
Please file a bug report when you have a bug to report.
hello, if you think, that this is no bug, than you are wrong. if a service on the server hangs (two times today) and must be killed, for me is this a bug. not only bugs with an error-message or a compiler error are bugs. if nobody is interested, to solve this problem, i must install samba from samba.org and if the newest version have the some bug, i must install a 3.x version. i need a fileserver. which serve files and not a fileserver on which samba hangs!!! i hope, that the samba-developper are interestet to solve this bug if it is in the newest version. goodby
insufficient information to determine bug status .. no emerge --info .. samba version .. config info etc. errors in log files etc. .. try the forums for set-up/migration to newer version issues .. this may be a known issue check samba site etc.
(In reply to dieter ferdinand from comment #2) > hello, > if you think, that this is no bug, than you are wrong. This is not a support forum. Try forums.gentoo.org or our IRC channels or user mailing lists if you need help with the analysis of your problem. Once you find the cause and determine it's not an issue specific or local to your configuration, do file a bug report.
