Description Joël 2004-09-19 14:07:39 UTC
I've been using cramfs initrd's for some time, and it works very well.

However, the foolproof feature (force ext2 in .config -- added in bug #52558) is a bit annoying.. please, could it be disabled by an option in /etc/genkernel.conf ?

I think in these days of reiserfs and reiser4, many people now use ext2/3 as module only. And cramfs is great for a initrd :-)

Comments welcome.

I totally agree with you.

Hrm, well there's no point in disabling the feature until genkernel makes initrds of another type. And to do that, it needs the code for it. So, patches to generate initrds in non-ext2 are welcome and then I'll be happy to the feature optional. Closing bug as INVALID for the time being due to this reason.
