replace cdcache with docache here:

Follow all instructions of the Gentoo Installation Handbook up to chroot /mnt/gentoo in Chapter 6. If you only have one CD-ROM remember to use the cdcache option while booting so you can unmount the LiveCD and mount your portage snapshot CD. 

handbook has it right, must be an oversight.
