Description Göktürk Yüksek archtester gentoo-dev 2018-01-29 20:04:40 UTC
The video_cards_nvidia flag is masked on AMD64 hardened profile. The mask itself does not say why but zerochaos told me that at the time the driver couldn't work in X without paxmarking all of X and that it can probably be dropped now.

I've removed the line from use.mask and successfully built an Xfce4 desktop running ~amd64. Seems like the original issue that prompted the mask isn't applicable anymore. Can we consider dropping it?

There is no reason for this mask afaict. A long time ago nvidia-drivers was masked entirely and when I wanted to use it for cuda/opencl I unmasked nvidia-drivers and left video_cards_nvidia masked since using nvidia-drivers required pax-marking X which is frowned upon. Now that there is no more pax I don't see a need for any masks relating to nvidia stuff in hardened. Anyone disagree?

Is unmasked in the 17.0 hardened profile.
