Description Erik Jensen 2018-01-19 09:07:39 UTC
I have my media library stored on another computer, and access it in Kodi via sftp. It contains standard media files, Blu-ray folders (BDMV), and DVD folders (VIDEO_TS). The former two work properly, but the latter does not. Attempting to play VIDEO_TS.IFO results in nothing appear to happen, while the following lines are recorded in the log (slightly redacted):

I tried manually building Kodi from the source tarball, and it worked properly, so it would appear that the problem is in the ebuild. (Perhaps in the way the libdvd* libraries are set up for the build?)

Note that ebuild-installed version will play DVDs from the local DVD drive (as long as I mount the disc, first), just not from the network location.

Comment 2 Craig Andrews gentoo-dev 2018-11-18 03:18:58 UTC
Can you please try again with the latest Kodi version (currently media-tv/kodi-18.0_beta5)?

Kodi 17 is no longer supported upstream, but 18 is - so if this issue persists, we can try to work with upstream to fix it.
Comment 3 Craig Andrews gentoo-dev 2019-09-06 21:45:22 UTC
Kodi 17 is no longer in Gentoo; if this issue is reproducible using a version currently in Gentoo, please reopen.

Thanks!
