When I try to update autoconf, I get an error from "make" saying that there are too many files open.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge -u autoconf
2.
3.

Actual Results:  
this is the Error message I get:
config.status: executing tests/atconfig commands
make: GNUmakefile:33: pipe: Too many open files
make: *** creating jobs pipe: Too many open files.  Stop.

see if the config.log has anything interesting

post config.log and re-open
