Hi,
  seems I can't compile this version with gcc-6.3.0.

Well, gcc-5.4.0 does not work either.
Comment 3 Martin Mokrejš 2018-01-01 08:21:16 UTC
Neither gcc-7.1.0 does.

Yes, I just spent 4 days recompiling everything with gcc-6.3.0:

# gcc-config x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-6.3.0
# env-update && source /etc/profile
# emerge -1v libtool
# emerge -1 binutils
# emerge -ev system --keep-going --backtrack=30000
# equery list "*" | while read p; do emerge -uN1 =$p --keep-going --backtrack=30000; emerge -1 =$p --keep-going --backtrack=30000; done

That was not ideal ... those virtual/ packages should have been avoided.

Indeed, gcc-config could issue a warning when switching between incompatible versions. Also, could portage keep track of compilers used to compile each installed package? So that I could have a proof? Also, gcc-config could be even smarter and tell me which apps are going to break when doing 'gcc-config x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-4.9.4'. That would be cool.

Hmm, I put it into there due to some other package but managed to recompile all my apps with these CXXFLAGS. The libreoffice was the first package which failed. Well, a few others failed to build but I would need to inspect in more detail what failed exactly.

Anyway, removing -std=c++11 from CXXFLAGS helped and grepping for that file gives me:

[CXX] sal/osl/all/debugbase.cxx
S=/scratch/var/tmp/portage/app-office/libreoffice-5.4.4.2/work/libreoffice-5.4.4.2 && I=$S/instdir && W=$S/workdir &&  mkdir -p $W/CxxObject/sal/osl/all/ $W/Dep/CxxObject/sal/osl/all/ && cd /scratch/var/tmp/portage/app-office/libreoffice-5.4.4.2/work/libreoffice-5.4.4.2 &&    x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-g++ -DBOOST_ERROR_CODE_HEADER_ONLY -DBOOST_SYSTEM_NO_DEPRECATED -DCPPU_ENV=gcc3 -DLINUX -DNDEBUG -DOSL_DEBUG_LEVEL=0 -DUNIX -DUNX -DX86_64 -D_PTHREADS -D_REENTRANT   -DFORCE_SYSALLOC   -DSAL_DLLIMPLEMENTATION -DRTL_OS="\"Linux\"" -DRTL_ARCH="\"X86_64\"" -DSRCDIR="\"/scratch/var/tmp/portage/app-office/libreoffice-5.4.4.2/work/libreoffice-5.4.4.2\""   -fvisibility=hidden    -Wall -Wno-missing-braces -Wnon-virtual-dtor -Wendif-labels -Wextra -Wundef -Wunused-macros -fmessage-length=0 -fno-common -pipe  -Wduplicated-cond -Wlogical-op -Wshift-overflow=2 -Wunused-const-variable=1 -fvisibility-inlines-hidden -fstack-protector-strong -fPIC -Wshadow -Woverloaded-virtual -std=gnu++14   -DEXCEPTIONS_ON -fexceptions -fno-enforce-eh-specs -O2 -pipe -mpclmul -mpopcnt -march=native -ftree-vectorize  -DLIBO_INTERNAL_ONLY  -c $S/sal/osl/all/debugbase.cxx -o $W/CxxObject/sal/osl/all/debugbase.o  -I$S/sal/osl/all/  -I$S/include  -I/opt/oracle-jdk-bin-1.8.0.152/include -I/opt/oracle-jdk-bin-1.8.0.152/include/linux -I$S/config_host  -I$S/sal/inc

So seems -std=gnu++14 gets injected automagically by configure.
Comment 6 Andreas Sturmlechner gentoo-dev 2018-01-20 02:15:41 UTC
The solution is: Don't limit the compiler to -std=c++11 when the code already requires c++14.
