Description Gabriel Devenyi 2004-09-16 07:42:29 UTC
Whenever I run emerge I get some kind of odd error, although emerge seems to work fine. I can't locate where its coming from.

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Comment 1 Gabriel Devenyi 2004-09-16 15:50:21 UTC
This seems to be breaking kde-related builds.
kdenetwork and kaffeine report...

configure: creating ./config.status
Uhh. Malformed pattern in ./confstatC3NDC6/subs.sed (s,@libdir@,${exec_prefix}/mylines: ['\x00']) at admin/config.pl line 106.
config.status: creating config.h
config.status: executing depfiles commands

Good - your configure finished. Start make now

make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop.

Comment 2 Jason Stubbs (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-09-16 17:03:47 UTC
Not sure what could cause this other than manual modification...
Comment 3 Gabriel Devenyi 2004-09-16 17:36:15 UTC
Pretty sure I didn't manually modify anything, I don't even know where this is coming from...
Comment 4 Nicholas Jones (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-09-21 17:15:32 UTC
There are nulls in a file somewhere.

Try running 'file' on all files in

/var/cache/edb/
/etc/portage

If they aren't plain ascii, then you've found the problem.
Comment 5 Gabriel Devenyi 2004-09-21 21:52:02 UTC
mv'd /var/cache/edb to edb.old and rm -rf /etc/portage results in the same "errors"
Comment 6 Gabriel Devenyi 2004-09-23 19:45:40 UTC
There are no nulls anywhere, whats the next step?
Comment 7 Nicholas Jones (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-09-23 21:03:10 UTC
Informational message added.
Comment 8 Nicholas Jones (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-22 08:48:08 UTC
Bug has been fixed and released in stable portages on or before 2.0.51-r2
