Whenever I run emerge I get some kind of odd error, although emerge seems to work fine. I can't locate where its coming from. staticwave ace # emerge -p kdebase mylines: ['\x00'] list index out of range mylines: ['\x00'] list index out of range These are the packages that I would merge, in order: Calculating dependencies ...done! Not sure what could cause this other than manual modification...
Pretty sure I didn't manually modify anything, I don't even know where this is coming from...
There are nulls in a file somewhere. Try running 'file' on all files in /var/cache/edb/ /etc/portage If they aren't plain ascii, then you've found the problem.
mv'd /var/cache/edb to edb.old and rm -rf /etc/portage results in the same "errors"
There are no nulls anywhere, whats the next step?
Informational message added.
Bug has been fixed and released in stable portages on or before 2.0.51-r2
