Kernel mode setting might not work properly. When I switch from X to a console (e.g. Ctrl Alt F1) I get a messed up (garbled) screen. Switching back to X works (Ctrl Alt F2 or Ctrl Alt F7). I am using the open-source amdgpu driver for my Radeon R9 380 video card.

Please test with xf86-video-amdgpu-18.0.1 and xorg-server-1.20.
