After installing xf4vnc I wasn't able to authenticate incoming vnc connections; as in order to generate a connection password, need to use command vncpasswd (which isn't included in xf4vnc-4.3.0.104 package) this generates an encrypted password file. Solved by merging TightVNC then remerging xf4vnc. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. merge xf4vnc 2. configure to use rfbauth in xorg.conf file 3. connect from remote machine with vncviewer Actual Results: Can connect to server, but upon entering password told "VNC authentication solved" Expected Results: Connected to server and shown X display TightVNC maybe listed as dependency though technically not, or vncpasswd should be included with xf4vnc package. ---- EMERGE INFO: System uname: 2.6.7-gentoo-r14 i686 Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.00GHz Gentoo Base System version 1.4.16 Autoconf: sys-devel/autoconf-2.59-r4 Automake: sys-devel/automake-1.8.3 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=i686 -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="gcc3" CONFIG_PROTECT="/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/3.2/share/config /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=i686 -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs ccache sandbox" GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp:///ftp-stud.fht-esslingen.de/pub/Mirrors/gentoo/ http://ftp.belnet.be/mirror/rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo/ http://ftp.snt.utwente.nl/pub/os/linux/gentoo http://ftp6.uni-erlangen.de/pub/mirrors/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="X alsa apm avi berkdb bonobo cdb cdinstall cdparanoia cdr crypt cups devfs26 divx4linux dvd dvdread encode esd foomaticdb gdbm gif gnome gpm gtk gtk2 gtkhtml guile imlib java jpeg libg++ libwww mad mikmod motif mozilla mpeg ncurses nls oggvorbis opengl oss pam pda pdflib perl png python quicktime readline sdl slang spell ssl svga tcltk tcpd truetype x86 xml2 xmms xv zlib"
