Hello, sorry my bad English. mailutils contains a config /etc/mailutils.rc and complains about his outdated name. If it to rename in /etc/mailutils.conf works without problems.
Confirmed. Starting smartd under systemd yields these warnings: Jun 17 23:12:38 server smartd[997]: Test of <mail> to mattst88@gentoo.org produced unexpected output (97 bytes) to STDOUT/STDERR: Jun 17 23:12:38 server smartd[997]: mail: using legacy configuration file /etc/mailutils.rc: please rename it to /etc/mailutils.conf Jun 17 23:12:38 server smartd[997]: Test of <mail> to mattst88@gentoo.org: successful
Looks like in mailutils-3.3 the filename is changed to /etc/mailutils.conf. We're just absurdly out of date, even though 3.3 and 3.4 have been in the tree for ages: commit 1bf94e014dfe11d3894d926afe5afafd57801c59 Author: Eray Aslan <eras@gentoo.org> Date: Mon Nov 6 12:35:21 2017 +0300 net-mail/mailutils: bump to 3.4 commit fe70d2a553abf507aab9d6075e54dfe98f94e04a Author: Eray Aslan <eras@gentoo.org> Date: Thu Oct 19 10:22:27 2017 +0300 net-mail/mailutils: bump to 3.3 I would suggest stabilization for 3.4, but there appear to be at least 5 bugs that would need to be fixed before stabilizing. Eray, perhaps you can work through some of these bugs?
(In reply to Matt Turner from comment #2) > Eray, perhaps you can work through some of these bugs? 2 bugs and one test failure fixed and contacted upstream for another. Let's check back in a couple of days.
Closing this one. Conf file changed and stabilization is on #663264
