libreoffice bin 5.4.2.2.0+ draw cannot read in pdf files correctly. Result is long file containing junk characters. It works OK in debian stretch. Same in Windows 10. I use Gentoo amd64 stable on a kaveri box.
Emerges OK. But does not work correctly in this respect c.f. debian and Windows 10 install. Go figure.
At a bare minimum: emerge --info libreoffice-bin
(In reply to Andreas Sturmlechner from comment #2) > At a bare minimum: emerge --info libreoffice-bin OK, I will re emerge libreoffice-bin and post the emerge --info output to a pastebin site and post the link here. Regards MF
No pastebin in bugzilla please. Just paste the output of emerge --info libreoffice-bin here.
Dear Sir, Please find the output of emerge --info libreoffice-bin: https://pastebin.com/iTTpJBsY Regards MF

libreoffice-bin is built without poppler support. This means lack of pdfimport support, but it also means that libreoffice-bin does not break with every update of poppler (of which there were/are many). To properly support this you would have to freeze multiple reverse-dependencies of poppler, something that does not go well with constant updates as we get them. libreoffice-bin is already difficult to keep up with all the dependency updates that break ABI and so poppler was dropped to remove one frequent source of dependency issues for users. Solution: Build your own app-office/libreoffice.
Please let me know if more output is required etc. MF
Dear Mr Sturmlecher Many thanks for your help here. I will compile and install libreoffice from scratch instead. Regards MF
PS Does either using distcc plus some extra cores from e.g. amazon cloud or alternatively ccache actually speed up compilations? Regds MF
