Thank you for the report. Please *attach* the logfiles, https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Bugzilla/Bug_report_guide#Report_a_build-time_bug_.28emerge_failed.29 Please add the correct version number in the title. Did you try sci-visualization/gnuplot-5.2.2? and reopen this ticket (Status:unconfirmed). Btw: I can not see a dependency on a special Lua version. https://gitweb.gentoo.org/repo/gentoo.git/tree/sci-visualization/gnuplot/gnuplot-5.2.2.ebuild It is likely, that you just need to fix blocking packages on your system. We can not help you efficiently via bug tracker. The bug tracker aims rather on specific problems in .ebuilds and less on individual systems. I have had very good experience on the gentoo IRC [1] with questions like this. Of course there are also forums and mailing lists [2,3]. I hope you understand, that I will close the bug here therefore and wish you good luck on one of the mentioned channels [4]. Please reopen the ticket in order to provide an indication for an specific error in an ebuild or any gentoo related product. [1] https://www.gentoo.org/get-involved/irc-channels/ [2] https://forums.gentoo.org/ [3] https://www.gentoo.org/get-involved/mailing-lists/all-lists.html [4] https://www.gentoo.org/support/
Sorry for the very late answer. I understand and will go search for answers on those channels if I encounter that problem again. I for now solved it by using an older version of gnuplot :). I had to say thanks for: 1) telling how to improve the bug report, 2) directing me toward the good places to ask for help on this. This is the best most informative answer I had on a not-so-useful bug report I submitted :)
