Description Collins Richey 2004-09-10 09:24:09 UTC
After upgrade to portage-2.0.50-r11, emerge -[p]u world markedly slower than on previous releases.

Reproducible: Didn't try
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge -pu world
2.
3.

Actual Results:
very slow returning results from pretend. Also slow when doing the actual
emerge. On previous releases, doing emerge -u world after an emerge -pu world
resulted in an almost instantaneous start of the first emerge.

I will repeat this in a day or two.

Expected Results:
as above.

Comment 1 Collins Richey 2004-09-14 07:23:48 UTC
As of this morning the speed of emerge -u world has returned to normal. No changes to portage, but several emerge sync's have been run, and a few additional packages have been emerged.. This is a complete mystery
Comment 2 Nicholas Jones (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-09-21 18:08:48 UTC
After updates, the cache is invalidated.
emerge metadata or emerge sync.
