Description Jonas Bofjäll 2004-09-10 01:30:46 UTC
Upgrading to xfree-4.3.0-r7 loses my mouse. It is a standard Logitech three button PS/2 mouse. I have yet to try 4.3.0-r6, but 4.3.0-r5 works perfectly. I tried xorg-6.8.0 and still no mouse, so my guess is maybe there was a backport of something from xorg that broke my mouse?

This is with 2.6.7+devfs and with 2.6.9-rc1-mm4+udev, with or without ATI binary drivers. (-r5 works good on all of these.)

Incidentally, the same upgrade sends my monitor to sleep mode with 1600x1200. Lowering the resolution to 1280x960 works again, but I would much rather keep the bigger resolution that works with -r5.

Not having a mouse is the bigger problem for me though :) .

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge -u xfree
2. watch mouse break :)

Please reassign this bug to the responsible herd, x11@gentoo.org
Comment 2 Seemant Kulleen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-09-10 02:20:12 UTC
Andrew Ross, you have the ability to reassign bus as well (saves you typing by doing that :)

Thanks for the tip, Seemant. I'm not sure when things changed, because I never used to be able to change attributes like that on bugs where I wasn't the reporter or assignee (perhaps I'm thinking of changes to URL, severity, etc though).

Anyway, sorry for the bugzilla comment/email spam.

I had a similiar problem with udev, but was resolve when I changed my mouse device from /dev/mouse to /dev/psaux in xorg.conf. Does this work for you?

Still waiting for info from reporter.
