After doing an emerge -Du world, the captions in the fluxbox menus and in the taskbar are missing, as you can see on the shot. If I select another style, the captions reappear, but only for the current session. When I restart X, the new theme is still selected, but the captions are missed again. A few questions... What theme is that? If it's not one of the standard ones, please attach / paste the theme file. If it uses any of the artwiz fonts, are you using the regular artwiz package or artwiz-aleczapka-en? Could you paste 'emerge --info' output please too?
It's the same problem with all styles. The style in the screenshot is "Makro". I tried to emerge artwiz-aleczapka-en because i read about it in another font-related bug of fluxbox, but it doesn't work. $ emerge --info Portage 2.0.50-r11 (default-x86-2004.0, gcc-3.3.4, glibc-2.3.4.20040808-r0, 2.6.6) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.6 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2500+ Gentoo Base System version 1.5.3 Autoconf: sys-devel/autoconf-2.59-r4 Automake: sys-devel/automake-1.8.5-r1 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86 ~x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=athlon-xp -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.2/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/share/config:/usr/kde/3.3/env:/usr/kde/3.3/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=athlon-xp -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs ccache sandbox" GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp:///ftp-stud.fht-esslingen.de/pub/Mirrors/gentoo/ http://linux.rz.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/download/gentoo-mirror/ http://ftp-stud.fht-esslingen.de/pub/Mirrors/gentoo/" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="3dnow X acpi alsa apache2 apm avi berkdb cdr crypt cups dillo directfb dvd encode esd fbcon foomatic foomaticdb gatos gd gdbm gif gimpprint gpm gtk gtk2 icq imlib ipv6 java jpeg libg++ libwww live mad mikmod mmx motif mozilla mpeg mysql nas ncurses network nls oggvorbis opengl oss pam pdflib perl png ppds python qt quicktime readline sdl slang spell ssl svga tcltk tcpd tiff truetype x86 xml2 xv zlib"
I had this problem with xorg-x11-0.6.8, doing xcompmgr shows the captions Strangly, this and a very numerious other problems went away with xorg-x11-0.6.8-r2
I'm pretty sure that this is fixed in 0.9.10-r3. If it isn't, please reopen.
Hi, i have the same problem with 0.9.10-gentoo-r3 / style "Nyz", XFree 4.3.0-r7. Yesterday i updated and noticed that all fonts were missing in the captions of minimized and maximized windows and in the fluxbox menu. The default theme worked without problems... I still have the old ~/.fluxbox/init... There are some diffs but i didnt analyze it deeper. I shut down X and deleted the ~/.fluxbox/init then i startx'ed again. I chose the Nyz style and it works now. Ago i ran fluxbox-generate_menu and the same happend... all fonts in my Nyz were gone... Attention... strange USE flags (left from a time when i was not very experienced in gentoo ...) ;) Portage 2.0.50-r11 (default-x86-2004.0, gcc-3.3.4, glibc-2.3.3.20040420-r1, 2.6.7-gentoo-r14) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.7-gentoo-r14 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40GHz Gentoo Base System version 1.4.16 distcc 2.16 i686-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [disabled] Autoconf: sys-devel/autoconf-2.59-r4 Automake: sys-devel/automake-1.8.5-r1 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-march=pentium3 -O3 -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /lib/modules /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /usr/share/texmf/dvipdfm/config/ /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/ /usr/share/texmf/xdvi/ /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=pentium3 -O3 -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs buildpkg ccache digest fixpackages notitles sandbox userpriv usersandbox" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://mirrors.sec.informatik.tu-darmstadt.de/gentoo http://ftp.easynet.nl/mirror/gentoo/" MAKEOPTS="-j3" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.baecker.com/gentoo-portage" USE="3dnow X Xaw3d aalib acl acpi alsa avi berkdb bitmap-fonts cdr crypt cups curl directfb dvd encode ethereal fbcon foomaticdb gd gdbm ggi gif gnome gpm gtk gtk2 imlib java jikes jpeg junit kde lcms libwww mad mbox mcal memlimit milter mmx motif mozilla mpeg mysql ncurses nls nocardbus oggvorbis opengl pam pdflib perl png ppds prelude python qt readline ruby samba sasl slang snmp socks5 spell ssl svga tcltk tcpd tetex tiff truetype usb wmf wxwindows x86 xface xml xml2 xmms xprint xv zlib"
Ok, it *really* should be fixed in 0.9.10-r4, which I'll be making sometime fairly soon. Looks like there're at least three different font related bugs / changes, which is why some fixes are working for some people and not for others. BLEH!
