Please refer to the picture, showing the errormessage. I was installing a new system on a dual p3, using redeemans bootcd for reiser4 compatibility, and everything went fine all the way up to kernel compilation. I always use distcc, and this should not be a problem, as it usually works... The kernel version is 2.9.1-mm-redeeman-3, and gcc is 3.3.4 ... The program that fails is cc1, probably due to an internal error... Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1. time make && make modules_install 2. 3. Actual Results: will report soon, as soon as it has redone it... Expected Results: compiled the kernel =) dual p3, running in single processor mode until the new kernel, 4 scsi disks, software raided, 896 Mbs of ram.
"gcc seg faulted while i was trying to build the kernel, i did a screened installation from a windows station, which usually works very good. I had nothing else running." changed summary to smaller one. this error is reproducible ... =/ check out :: http://www.medic.chalmers.se/~lofwyr/gentoo-bug-02.JPG i only did a recompile, and once more it stopped at that part. will try to recompile without that option if possible.
Tried compiling without support for acpi... Still no luck. Will now try to boot without acpi or something...
Disable distcc and recompile one more time.
Ok. thnx for the tip. So i Disabled distcc and recompiled, but still no FLS... =/ same error :: http://www.medic.chalmers.se/~lofwyr/gentoo-bug-03.JPG
Ok, so now i tried building the 2.6.8-gentoo-r3 kernel, but still no luck... =/ http://www.medic.chalmers.se/~lofwyr/gentoo-bug-04.JPG [distcc disabled, and still running on a reiser4 filesystem...]
I think that it can be a hardware issue, please test your momory using memtest.
I have run memtest86 for 1.5 hrs on it now, but i will give it another 4.5 or so to be sure... no errors in the memory sofar... this is a dell workstation, and should contain good components ... =)
unless you can reproduce on a non-reiser4 system we wont bother ...
