Description Per.Philip A. Sollin 2004-09-09 01:48:15 UTC
Please refer to the picture, showing the errormessage.
I was installing a new system on a dual p3, using redeemans bootcd for reiser4 compatibility, and everything went fine all the way up to kernel compilation.
I always use distcc, and this should not be a problem, as it usually works...
The kernel version is 2.9.1-mm-redeeman-3, and gcc is 3.3.4 ...
The program that fails is cc1, probably due to an internal error...

Reproducible: Didn't try
Steps to Reproduce:
1. time make && make modules_install
2.
3.

Actual Results:
will report soon, as soon as it has redone it...

Expected Results:
compiled the kernel =)

dual p3, running in single processor mode until the new kernel, 4 scsi disks,
software raided, 896 Mbs of ram.
Comment 1 Per.Philip A. Sollin 2004-09-09 02:04:09 UTC
"gcc seg faulted while i was trying to build the kernel, i did a screened installation from a windows station, which usually works very good. I had nothing else running."

changed summary to smaller one.

this error is reproducible ... =/

i only did a recompile, and once more it stopped at that part.
will try to recompile without that option if possible.
Comment 2 Per.Philip A. Sollin 2004-09-09 13:21:26 UTC
Tried compiling without support for acpi...
Still no luck.

Will now try to boot without acpi or something...

Disable distcc and recompile one more time.
Comment 4 Per.Philip A. Sollin 2004-09-09 15:48:55 UTC

[distcc disabled, and still running on a reiser4 filesystem...]
Comment 6 Karol Wojtaszek (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-04 12:04:02 UTC
I think that it can be a hardware issue, please test your momory using memtest.
Comment 7 Per.Philip A. Sollin 2004-10-05 01:21:07 UTC
I have run memtest86 for 1.5 hrs on it now, but i will give it another 4.5 or so to be sure...

no errors in the memory sofar...

this is a dell workstation, and should contain good components ... =)
Comment 8 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2004-12-06 20:46:03 UTC
unless you can reproduce on a non-reiser4 system we wont bother ...
