Comment 1 Andreas Proschofsky (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-09-08 11:03:53 UTC
That's a problem with the new x.org-release, which doesn't build with xprint by default, it works if you add "xprint" to your use flag and recompile x.org. Adding X11@
Comment 2 Seemant Kulleen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-09-08 11:26:12 UTC
ah actually, for xorg-6.8.0 we'll be making xprint a default USE variable (via profiles)
Comment 3 Seemant Kulleen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-09-08 11:30:34 UTC
it's part of the profiles in cvs now, in fact. So, either a rebuild of xorg's cvs snapshots or a new build of 6.8.0 will cause xprint to build again by default.
Comment 4 FieldySnuts 2004-09-09 15:46:22 UTC
I have the same error number, although during building freetype. Same solution? I have xfree-xorg-6.7.99.904 installed. I also have xprint set.

Comment 5 Andrew Bevitt 2004-09-09 16:42:14 UTC
Have you compiled xorg-x11 with xprint set though?

What is the error message?
Comment 6 Geoff Leach 2004-09-09 19:58:07 UTC
I just rebuilt xorg-x11-6.8.0 and libXp is now created for me. I'm a little perplexed as I looked at the log file from the first time I built xorg 6.8.0 and it appears the xprint use flag was set and libXp built. Oh well. Works now. I'm about to start another build of openoffice-ximian-1.3.4 which failed due to missing libXp, and which occurred after my first build of xorg 6.8.
Comment 7 Andreas Proschofsky (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-09-09 23:03:30 UTC
@FieldySnuts: The error number is the same for every build break, so that doesn't say anything. So yours seems to be another problem. If it persists please file another bug with more info. Other than that: Closing
Comment 8 Paul de Vrieze (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-09-10 01:43:21 UTC
Just for your info, the missing xprint was basically a slipup on the area of the xorg maintainers. xprint has now been added to the default profiles as half of the x applications out there depend on it's pressence.
