Clicking on the installation guide link ("The Gentoo Linux CD Installation 
Guide" on the documentation page, or "x86 Install Instructions
" on the main page) now brings up a page full of garbage characters.

if you are refering to http://www.gentoo.org/doc/build.html then it works for 
me ...
if you arent refering to that page, then what is the URL for the page you're 
talking about ?

I hit "refresh" and the page came up find. I guess it's already been fixed.
