Description Alex Efros 2017-09-04 06:52:12 UTC
I've disabled dropbox auto-upgrade feature (chmod 0 ~/.dropbox-dist), so I was using 26.3.21 - latest available in portage. But since today this version doesn't work anymore - it show popup asking to upgrade or exit every ~30 minutes.

I've enabled auto-upgrade (chmod 0700 ~/.dropbox-dist), and now I've 33.4.23, which have own issues (too small font and "grsec: denied RWX mmap of <anonymous mapping> by /home/powerman/.dropbox-dist/dropbox-lnx.x86_64-33.4.23/dropbox").

Maybe it's time to update dropbox in the portage to some working version?

Updated ebuild for 33.4.23

This ebuild file works for me.

I've encountered problems recently with Dropbox under Xfce4 and have been unable to work out whats going wrong. It crashes the notification area in the panel and restarting it results in an endless loop of being asked to remove or restart it. If I...

killall dropbox

...and add a notification area to the Xfce4 panel the panel persists. Slightly annoying.

@Thorsten Meinl : Does your ebuild differ much from the =net-misc/dropbox-34.3.19 that is in portage or is it a straight-forward version bump of that ebuild?
Comment 3 Thorsten Meinl 2017-09-13 19:37:44 UTC
The new ebuild in portage is very similar to mine (which itself is basically a copy from the previous version). I just tried the new 34 ebuild and it works fine, too.

I use xfce too and dont have any issues with the notification panel. Does v34.3.19 fix it or still broken? If its still broken, can you open a separate bug for that?

Apologies for the delay, I've been away. I've the same problems with dropbox-34.3.19 and have opened a bug at https://bugs.gentoo.org/631496
