Description Kurt McKee 2004-09-05 23:05:15 UTC
Gaim appears to be having trouble unloading my plugins on exit. However, I've disabled all of the plugins in the preferences, and still Gaim crashes, even without having logged in. For instance, with all plugins disabled, I can run Gaim and cause it to segfault by trying to close the login window.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
$ gdb gaim
(gdb) run
(Attempt to close the login window)
Actual Results:
Gaim segfaults.

Expected Results:
Exited cleanly

I have gaim-encryption and gaim-rhythmbox installed, but in the preferences both
were disabled, along with all other plugins shipped with Gaim (such as
auto-reconnect, for example).

Please list versions of gaim and all gaim plugins.
Comment 4 Kurt McKee 2004-09-07 19:05:14 UTC
gaim-0.82.1
gaim-encryption-2.30
gaim-rhythmbox-0.81.3
Comment 5 Don Seiler (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-09-09 08:12:11 UTC
Debug output would be most helpful. Run gaim via 'gaim -d' and paste last bits of output before crash here.

Debug output

I disabled all plugins prior to running this. I received a login window,
immediately attempted to close the window, and Gaim crashed.
Comment 7 Kurt McKee 2004-09-12 11:42:20 UTC
Now running gaim-rhythmbox-0.82.1
Comment 8 Don Seiler (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-09-14 19:13:16 UTC
... and? did that fix things? IIRC, gaim-xmms-remote would crash old gaim-rhythmbox.
Comment 9 Kurt McKee 2004-09-15 07:06:36 UTC
No, it still crashes. I don't have gaim-xmms-remote, just the plugins I listed.
Comment 10 Don Seiler (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-09-15 09:29:28 UTC
Have completely REMOVED all third-party plugins? Disabling them doesn't prevent gaim from trying to load them. The libraries would have to be removed from /usr/lib/gaim.
Comment 11 Kurt McKee 2004-09-16 19:58:05 UTC
gaim-rhythmbox is what's causing it. I unmerged both gaim-encryption and gaim-rhythmbox, and when I reinstalled gaim-rhythmbox, the crashes returned.
Comment 12 Don Seiler (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-07 20:10:30 UTC
Kurt have you updated to v 1.0.0 for gaim and gaim-rhythmbox? If the problem persists I would file a bug.

Looking now there were no bugs fixes in gaim-rhythmbox from 0.82 to 1.0.0.

I'm going to close this UPSTREAM.
