x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-384.69 breaks VDPAU video playback for certain video formats Below is a list of the video formats I have available to me for testing Working: h264 wmv3 Non-Working: mpeg1video mpeg4 theora vp8 vp9 vp6f wmv1 Non-working videos just display a blank (solid black) screen All other aspects of the video (audio, seeking, external subtitles, etc.) work properly With external subtitles, they just get displayed over the blank video Have tried re-emerging all relevant packages sudo emerge --oneshot x11-libs/libvdpau media-video/mpv media-video/smplayer to no avail Switching to a different video decoding/rendering system within my media player fixes issue Ie. Switching from VDPAU to OpenGL or XV So it's def. a VDPAU issue Downgrading from x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-384.69 back down to x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-384.59-r1 fixes playback issues on all video formats ===== emerge --info below ===== Portage 2.3.8 (python 3.5.3-final-0, default/linux/amd64/13.0/desktop/plasma/systemd, gcc-6.4.0, glibc-2.25-r4, 4.12.9-gentoo x86_64)
