Description Sergey S. Starikoff 2017-08-21 14:40:54 UTC
After update to =net-im/psi-1.2::gentoo I've find clipboard feature broken.

The simple check:
1. Start a text editor;
2. Type some text. For example «test»;
3. Copy it into clipboard (Ctrl-C);
4. Paste it back to enshure it works (Ctrl-V);
5. Select some text in psi chat;
6. Copy it into clipboard (Ctrl-C or via righ-button menu);
7. Try to paste it into text editor;
8. Wonder seing previously copied test string.

Url-copy feature also is broken. Url-open feature works.

Please show Psi USE flags as well. And what is your desktop environment? I guess it's xfce.
Comment 2 Sergey S. Starikoff 2017-08-27 12:25:46 UTC
[I] net-im/psi (9999[1]@26.08.2017): Qt XMPP client
[1] "rion" /usr/portage/layman/rion
Is OK.

Comment 4 Sergey Ilinykh 2017-08-28 06:16:25 UTC
so we are talking about regular version (not webkit) in environment which always worked good. And relevant code in Psi wasn't changed for years. That's strange.
I have to test it.
Comment 5 Sergey Ilinykh 2017-09-24 10:31:26 UTC
unfortunately I can't reproduce this.
I'm testing with Qt-5.9.1 and copy&paste just works.
Comment 6 Sergey Ilinykh 2017-09-24 10:33:49 UTC
Do you have such a problem with other Qt applications compiled against the same Qt version?

Can you reproduce this with webkit/webengine version of Psi?

> unfortunately I can't reproduce this.

I use stable branch with Qt-5.7.1, Qt-5.9.1 is not stable yet.

It is a kind of strange issue.
For now clipboard (both from chat and history windows) work fine.
But some time ago I've temporarily seen this issue on my another system with psi-9999. After update (or something else) it also gone away.

Have you any ideas about debugging it?
Comment 8 Sergey Ilinykh 2017-10-03 11:50:28 UTC
Well.. yes. with qcreator/gdb

Set breakpoint in ChatView::handleCopyEvent follow step by step.
Comment 9 Sergey S. Starikoff 2017-10-19 13:21:16 UTC
For now with [I] net-im/psi (1.3@10/10/17) clipboard works correctly.
I don't guess the reason of this issue.
Comment 10 Sergey S. Starikoff 2017-10-23 13:21:56 UTC
Reproduced again with -9999 build.
Possibly, some dependency miss?
Comment 11 Sergey S. Starikoff 2018-05-28 13:14:54 UTC
It looks like some floating and possibly Gentoo-build specific issue with Qt.

Just now I've got the same issue in app-admin/keepassxc-2.2.4 with Qt 5.9.4.

Just previous week everything worked fine.
The only change was kernel update from 4.9.49-gentoo-r1 to 4.9.95-gentoo.
First boot with new kernel.
Comment 12 Sergey Ilinykh 2018-08-10 11:52:53 UTC
I'm resetting assignee to default since it affects other apps and nobody else has the same problem.
Comment 13 Jonas Stein gentoo-dev 2018-08-11 10:52:04 UTC
It is sad to read that you have problems with the software. The situation seems to be a bit more complicate and requires some analysis.
We can not help you efficiently via bug tracker. The bug tracker aims rather on specific problems in .ebuilds and less on individual systems.

I have had very good experience on the gentoo IRC [1] with questions like this. Of course there are also forums and mailing lists [2,3].
I hope you understand, that I will close the bug here therefore and wish you good luck on one of the mentioned channels [4].
Please reopen the ticket in order to provide an indication for an specific error in an ebuild or any gentoo related product.
