Description Matthew Kennedy (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-09-04 14:12:39 UTC
Paulo would like to assist with our collection of Scheme-related ports by becoming part of the Scheme herd (which consists of Jake and I at the moment).

I will be Paulo's mentor.

I have directed Paulo towards the Developer's Handbook so that he may understand the process. Please send him the new developer quiz.
Comment 1 Matthew Kennedy (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-09-04 14:34:06 UTC
Paulo, the URL to the quiz is

   http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/devrel/quiz/ebuild-quiz.txt
Comment 2 Jeremy Huddleston (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-02 17:12:53 UTC
Matthew, what is Paulo's email address, please CC him on this bug. Also, is he ready for evaluation? If so, have him take the final quiz and send that to recruiters@ along with his ssh key and gpg key.
Comment 3 Deedra Waters (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-10 20:55:20 UTC
I'm going to close this bug, since we haven't gotten a response back from the mentor, and the mentor hasn't followed the steps on the recruiters page.
Comment 4 Matthew Kennedy (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-18 11:53:31 UTC
Sorry, have been away from development for the last couple of months. I've added
Paulo's email to the CC.

Paulo, I don't think you've sent me your responses to the quiz yet (at least as I
search back through my email archive).

Deedra I realize the recruiting steps were revised. This bug was filed shortly
before that happened (or at least before I heard of it on -core). I'll check to
see whats changed in the next couple of days.
Comment 5 Deedra Waters (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-11-03 18:59:46 UTC
I'm not going to accept this new dev. If he can find a mentor willing to work with him, then I'm more then willing to reopen this bug, and give him a shot.

Mkennedy, come talk to me on irc please.
Comment 6 Paulo J. Matos 2004-11-03 23:59:26 UTC
Hi,
I'm sorry for not saying anything lately. My house burned out last October 5th and I lost my home internet connection along with all my personal stuff. That's why I stopped giving news since without a home internet connection I'm unable to fulfill a developers responsabilities.

I'll contact you further with my situations gets solved since I've moved around my friends home a lot in the last month and I'm not having a stable life.
Comment 7 Paulo J. Matos 2004-11-04 01:21:15 UTC
OK, i've been giving some though to it. Can I been given another chance? If yes I'll reply monday with the answers to the quiz. Is it the same quiz?

Cheers,

Paulo Matos

Assuming you can find an active mentor who will mentor you, yes.
You must have an active mentor though.
Comment 9 Paulo J. Matos 2004-11-04 23:15:53 UTC
From your message can I deduce mkennedy is not an active mentor?
Comment 10 Seemant Kulleen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-11-05 11:18:01 UTC
Paulo, come to IRC will you, I have a few questions to ask you. I'm in #gentoo, my /nick is seemant -- just /msg me when you get there.
Comment 11 Paulo J. Matos 2005-11-26 07:50:30 UTC
Is there a way to revive this bug?
Comment 12 Matthew Kennedy (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-12-22 12:36:26 UTC
I'd like to reopen this bug and restart Paulo's new developer processs. He has
expressed renewed interest.
Comment 13 Matthew Kennedy (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-01-31 09:47:14 UTC
Paulo, how are the quiz responses going? Let me know if you need help.
Comment 14 Matthew Kennedy (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-02-26 15:35:06 UTC
Its been about a month since the last comment. We understand that things come up and Gentoo might become a low priority in one's life, so we'll just mark this as closed again. Contact me again if you're interested in persuing Scheme Herd work at a later date.
Comment 15 Paulo J. Matos 2006-02-27 07:29:42 UTC
Hi Matthew, I'm really sorry 'bout being so silent but I've really having lot of work and although I should have taken some time to do the quiz, I didn't. I'll try to work on it soon and send you some question that came along the last time I looked at it (christmas, I think). Hopefully, you'll then be able to reopen the report. I'm really sorry for all this mess!
Comment 16 Bryan Østergaard (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-02-28 08:28:33 UTC
As a recruiter I'd really like to wait until you're sure you have enough time for doing Gentoo work rather than doing the quiz as soon as possible. Nobody (including yourself) is going to be happy adding you as a developer if you're only going to do 1 or 2 commits in the first few months.

I'd love to get you onboard (and I'm sure we could use some help with Scheme) but please make sure we can do this in a proper way instead of rushing things.
Comment 17 Paulo J. Matos 2009-11-02 14:04:05 UTC
Can we revive this bug? and allow me to give a hand on gentoo development?

Maybe take the quiz or restart the application procedure?

You need to find a current Gentoo developer to mentor you. When you have one, he can reopen this bug and we can continue according to current recruitment procedures.

I will look into that.
