It would be nice if some more of these programs is included in portage

I don't know which of them are good though. 

Perhaps even a new category 'app-edu' for educational apps?

we'd rather have specific bugs on which to add, and contributed ebuilds. no need to add a whole bunch of packages that barely anyone uses.
