Same problem here.
The contents of automake.out:

I have checked autoconf and automake and could not reproduce this problem locally :/
Comment 12 Rémi Cardona (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2017-08-24 10:07:40 UTC
Installing dev-cpp/mm-common fixed the build for me. So probably a missing dep somewhere due to eautoreconf I guess.
Comment 13 Marcin Kowalski 2017-08-24 10:14:58 UTC
I have the same problem, and rebuilding mm-common seems to have fixed it.

Patch to fix dev-cpp/mm-common dependency

It seems that the dev-cpp/mm-common dependency has been commented out.
Comment 15 jorgicio 2017-08-24 15:22:48 UTC
I confirm the installing of mm-common fixes the issue. Just tested here and working fine.
Comment 16 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2017-08-24 23:04:50 UTC
It was an oversight when fixing build issues. Added now. Thanks for reporting.
