Yes, my bad. Sorry! O_O`
Comment 4 Ben Kohler gentoo-dev 2017-08-17 19:37:57 UTC
This appears to be a build log for net-libs/webkit-gtk-2.4.11-r200
Comment 5 Renich Bon Ciric 2017-08-17 20:45:41 UTC
ah, sorry, let me try that again. I am having problems with that as well. Sorry..

Comment 7 Steve Arnold archtester gentoo-dev 2017-08-18 18:45:19 UTC
Can you compile other non-trivial packages? Is your machine overheating? Did you try it without parallel make and/or ccache? It's pretty impossible for us to diagnose a segfault without more info...
Comment 8 Ben Kohler gentoo-dev 2017-08-18 18:48:13 UTC
This sounds like more of those ryzen-related segfaults that have been reported all over the place... I don't think it's going to be anything mesa or webkit-gtk specific

> Can you compile other non-trivial packages?
Yes; I've updated 104 packages before mesa failed.

> Is your machine overheating?
Not at all.

> Did you try it without parallel make and/or ccache?
No. I will try with MAKEOPTS="-j1" and see if that helps.

> It's pretty impossible for us to diagnose a segfault without more info...
Let me know what I can provide.

Here are some recent facts:

* I changed the motherboard and CPU. From a Phenom II X6 1100T to a Ryzen 1800x. The motherboard was Asus CrossHair V and it's Asus CrossHair VI Hero Wifi-AC.

* I had major issues with my BtrFS drives getting full (software RAID5) so I had to delete tons of stuff. I have plenty of space now.

* Yesterday, I switched from radeon to AMDGPU. Everything works fine. Actually, the recompile is attempting to remove the radeon use flag from mesa.

* I upgraded to GNOME 2.24 yesterday as well. No problems there.

I do have problems merging:
* media-libs/liblo-0.29
* media-libs/mesa-17.2.0_rc4
* net-libs/webkit-gtk-2.4.11-r200

All these have been impossible.

could be but other stuff compiles fine. Kernel, gnome 2.24, etc.

I don't mean to trivialize your problem-- but I believe this more related to current state of ryzen support on linux. I think some people have reported better success on gcc-7.

I don't know where this bug should go but most likely it won't be specifically the mesa or webkit maintainers with a fix.

OK man. You gave it a shot. I appreciate it. Thanks!

Oh here's some more information too: https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Ryzen#Segmentation_faults_during_compilation

Awesome. Thanks!

I think I have disabled all overclocking. At the moment, I am recompiling mesa with MAKEOPTS="-j1" to see if that helps. It's gone slow but far. I dunno if it reached the point of the segfault.

Fingers crossed.
Comment 15 Renich Bon Ciric 2017-08-18 19:26:08 UTC
FYI, there is a comment on the Gentoo questionnaire: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScKE5Fr3WCeUSmR0tzKOJwd8AdnLYbx3TrsORHCbEoHG1chfw/viewanalytics

It reads:

"Mesa compilation almost always segfaults when using many jobs >4
My system sometimes freezes completely, it used to happen more often but has gotten better. I'm guessing becuase of bios updates."

I will try upgrading the UEFI/BIOS.
Comment 16 Renich Bon Ciric 2017-08-18 22:42:27 UTC
OK, FYI, it just finished and MAKEOPTS="-j1" worked fine.
Comment 17 josef.95 2017-08-22 09:03:23 UTC
I think you should for this (broken) CPU make a RMA request by AMD
For this Error does not help a BIOS-Update :-/
See on https://community.amd.com/message/2816382#comment-2816382#2816382

Good luck
