Description Seemant Kulleen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-08-09 19:20:40 UTC
Hi Bart,

I was just wondering if, perhaps, you can try to roll the stages and iso with
including sys-apps/supersed instead of sys-apps/sed in there, instead.

Gerk is attempting that for the ppc platform already.

thanks
Comment 1 Seemant Kulleen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-08-14 09:18:15 UTC
Gentlemen, there is also a new version of sh-utils (2.0.14). Please test that
instead of 2.0.11. the new version is masked, and this would be an ideal test.
Comment 2 Mark Guertin 2002-08-14 10:07:04 UTC
I dont feel comfortable releasing a new OS with a testing version of stuff, I
will try to get it tested before hand, but time is going to be tight on this stuff.

BTW, supersed is a definate NOT for the ppc 1.4 release at this point :(
Comment 3 Seemant Kulleen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-08-14 10:28:27 UTC
Gentlemen, the masked bison-1.35 could also use some testing in this environment.

Please note that I am NOT asking that these be released on the new CD and
install images, just that they get some testing in that environment for a
potential release.
Comment 4 Seemant Kulleen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-08-14 11:08:39 UTC
Couple more: util-linux (masked), and glibc (also masked) need to be tested.
Comment 5 Nicholas Wourms 2002-08-14 15:53:32 UTC
Stty is not emerging from the new sh-utils for a default-x86-2.0 setup. I don't
know why, it just isn't. I noticed this as I was unemerging my old sh-utils. I
don't want to create a duplicate bug, so I noticed your conversation and decided
to post here.
Comment 6 Seemant Kulleen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-08-23 06:16:42 UTC
just as a note -- sys-apps/supersed is now being installed as /bin/ssed instead,
so this allows sed and supersed to co-exist without clobbering each other.
Comment 7 Rigo 2002-08-23 10:00:57 UTC
Typo Seemant ;) !

dosym ../../bin/ssed /usr/bin/ssed

should be:

dosym ../../bin/ssed /usr/bin/sed

Corrected ebuild included

Anybody saw this during supersed-compiling too ?

rigo, is your textutils ok? also, there is no typo. I am installing supersed
as _ssed_ NOT sed
Comment 11 Rigo 2002-08-23 11:28:35 UTC
re:textutils I hope so ! (& in case it isn't ....I just renamed your ebuild, to
test the new released 2.1 I found after your remark ;) --> Want me to test 4 u ?

Your patch still works (And nice to see what it does, *grin* ;-D)

Nicholas, which sh-utils?

this is supposed to be closed

Moving these so we can remove the "Install CD" component from "Gentoo Linux".

I apologize to everyone for this spam, but according to the bugzilla developers,
this is the only reasonable way to do this.
