Description Adrien D 2017-08-09 05:27:04 UTC
Hi team Gentoo,
Please, can you update discord to 0.0.2 version ?
I know we wait 2 days, but it's impossible to use doscord 0.0.1.
Old versions blocked by server.
Thanks

Reproducible: Always
Comment 1 Pryka 2017-08-09 06:17:48 UTC
Confirmed. Can't login with old version.
Comment 2 Adrien D 2017-08-09 06:20:32 UTC
NOTE : I added in my overlay the new version of discord.
Warnins, you must add libcxxx as new dep.
Comment 3 hincor 2017-08-09 07:42:43 UTC
Yep, today discord-0.0.1 told me there is a new version, 0.0.2. It only lets me download, and not use the service itself.

TL:DR Until bumped to 0.0.2, discord is broken package now.
Comment 4 Ethan Kiang 2017-08-09 14:58:25 UTC
RDEPENDS requires sys-libs/libcxx now. In the midst of submitting a PR.

Do tell me if this is inappropriate to be posting here! Thanks.

Oh thanks guys .. I did a rename on the ebuild to 0.0.2, but I get a completely blank grey window... re-emerging now!
Comment 7 Michael 'veremitz' Everitt 2017-08-10 08:30:38 UTC
Incidentally .. is there any particular reason for using the .deb rather than the .tar.gz?
Comment 8 Ethan Kiang 2017-08-10 08:54:48 UTC
Michael, make sure you don't forget to emerge sys-libs/libcxx as well. It is a necessary dependency in 0.0.2. The PR has not been accepted on github yet.

As for the .deb, I think this was because there was only a .deb for 0.0.1. I might be wrong however. There shouldn't really be any important difference between the .deb and the tar.

Thanks Ethan .. I'm rocking and rolling now on both an ages-old desktop install (where I had to unmask libcxx *and* libcxxrt!!) -and- my laptop, which has pulled in stable versions of both.

I've dropped a !note to johu on IRC, so I hope he'll pick this up and merge when he has time.

Cheers all, one happy Discord'er!

Confirmed, I can copy the ebuild and add sys-libs/libcxx to RDEPEND and it works.

The .deb seems to be about 20MB smaller than the tarball.
Comment 12 seraph@xs4all.nl 2017-08-12 22:16:57 UTC
Copying the ebuild to 0.0.2 and adding libcxx works for me as well.

And yes, 0.0.1 version is completely locked out and useless now.
Comment 13 Jerrod Frost 2017-08-15 02:20:36 UTC
Thanks guys, adding libcxx fixed 0.0.2 for me!
Comment 14 Pryka 2017-08-28 09:31:03 UTC
Someone will actually add 0.0.2 to the main tree or not?
Comment 15 lupus 2017-08-29 08:50:30 UTC
Please bump or drop from main tree. Discord is unable to launch on this version.

My ebuild if there are no maintener.......
Comment 17 Mike H. 2017-09-02 04:04:31 UTC
Also note that the DiscordPBT version of 0.0.2 works as long as you have libcxx installed, the normal just gives a gray screen. (Used the tarball.)
