I want to use KDE instead of Gnome, but I got stuck during emerging some components. So I made an emerge sync, emerge -u system, emerge -u world, etc-update, and env-update, and then I tried to make emerge -u kde (because some components I could emerge before), but it always stucks at the first component, the x11-libs/qt-3.3.3. (I wanna upgrade it from qt-3.3.2) That's it: ge/qt-3.3.3/work/qt-x11-free-3.3.3/mkspecs/linux-g++ -I. -I/usr/include/freetype 2 -I../shared -I../uilib -I../../../include -I.moc/release-shared-mt/ -o ./moc_t ableeditor.o .moc/release-shared-mt/moc_tableeditor.cpp g++ -c -pipe -fno-exceptions -fPIC -Wall -W -O2 -D_REENTRANT -DDESIGNER -DQT_IN TERNAL_XML -DQT_INTERNAL_WORKSPACE -DQT_INTERNAL_ICONVIEW -DQT_INTERNAL_TABLE -D QT_TABLET_SUPPORT -DQT_NO_DEBUG -DQT_THREAD_SUPPORT -DQT_SHARED -I/var/tmp/porta ge/qt-3.3.3/work/qt-x11-free-3.3.3/mkspecs/linux-g++ -I. -I/usr/include/freetype 2 -I../shared -I../uilib -I../../../include -I.moc/release-shared-mt/ -o ./mainw indow.o mainwindow.cpp g++ -c -pipe -fno-exceptions -fPIC -Wall -W -O2 -D_REENTRANT -DDESIGNER -DQT_IN TERNAL_XML -DQT_INTERNAL_WORKSPACE -DQT_INTERNAL_ICONVIEW -DQT_INTERNAL_TABLE -D QT_TABLET_SUPPORT -DQT_NO_DEBUG -DQT_THREAD_SUPPORT -DQT_SHARED -I/var/tmp/porta ge/qt-3.3.3/work/qt-x11-free-3.3.3/mkspecs/linux-g++ -I. -I/usr/include/freetype 2 -I../shared -I../uilib -I../../../include -I.moc/release-shared-mt/ -o ./prope rtyeditor.o propertyeditor.cpp {standard input}: Assembler messages: {standard input}:24411: Warning: end of file not at end of a line; newline inser ted {standard input}:25322: Error: suffix or operands invalid for `add' g++: Internal error: Le

local gcc compilation issue
I encountered the same error while doing emerge -uDv world with use=amd64 Earlier in the emerge gcc and cglibc updated to 3.3.4 from 3.3.3 gcc --version gcc (GCC) 3.3.4 20040623 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.4-r1, ssp-3.3.2-2, pie-8.7.6) I have a minimal installation at present and have not done any compiler tweaking. I don't think it is a "*local* compilation issue".
A further thought: I do not have KDE installed. qt is getting compiled because GNOME is being upgraded with the following from emerge info: USE="X alsa amd64 apm arts avi berkdb cdr crypt encode esd foomaticdb gdbm gif gnome gpm gtk gtk2 imlib jpeg kde ldap libg++ libwww mikmod motif mozilla mpeg mysql ncurses nls nogcj oggvorbis opengl oss pam pdflib perl png python qt quicktime readline sdl slang spell ssl tcpd truetype xml2 xmms xv zlib"
you may just be stressing your system - cpu getting too hot or bad memory or something.
> with use=amd64 who told you to add arch flags to USE? `tail -n 20 /usr/portage/profiles/use.desc`
yep, something is definitely wrong locally - either some bad libraries (glibc?) or hardware issues during compile (cpu getting hot? ram??)
