dev-lang/rust-1.19.0 ignored MAKEOPTS="-j2", used 8 cores, caused abrupt unwanted reboot. additionally/superfluously: cannot work around with dev-lang/rust-bin, as dev-util/cargo wants dev-lang/rust still after dev-lang/rust-bin installed. this discovered while attempting to get www-client/firefox-55.0_beta12 from mozilla overlay.
It is sad to read that you have problems with the software. The situation seems to be a bit more complicate and requires some analysis. We can not help you efficiently via bug tracker. The bug tracker aims rather on specific problems in .ebuilds and less on individual systems. I have had very good experience on the gentoo IRC [1] with questions like this.
