I have the same issue, maybe due to my LINGUAS settings":

root@lynx:/root(17)# grep LING /etc/make.conf
LINGUAS="de en fr ru"

"de" had a similar error that was addressed prior to bringing this version into the gentoo repo.  In that case it was due to chatzilla being disabled and a certain code branch going missing for localization.  

This one looks to be because of errors in the locale itself (but still related to chatzilla).  Unfortunately, one of the issues with doing a release on an upstream-unsupported version is that localization fixes are incomplete, and this looks to be one of those cases.

I'll patch the ru locale (and any others that fail) sometime today.  In the meantime, if you want to please try to build this version with chatzilla disabled?
