Description Georg Armbruster 2004-09-02 05:26:33 UTC
Since the update of Ximian-Openoffice to the version 1.3 and
meanwhile 1.3.2, it seems Ximian-openoffice is unable to print
any truetype fonts... They are shown correctly, but when you
print them out, you will get only a blank peace of paper...

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. install ximian-openoffice in a current 1.3.x version
2. create a document using any truetype font (verdana will do :)
3. print the document
4. stare at a blank peace of paper :)

Actual Results:
truetype fonts are not printed

Expected Results:
well, a paper with letters on it would be nice :))))

Same problem here, though I can't confirm it's specifically one type of font. My resume print shows graphic objects (a bar and bullets) only...

posted to bugzilla.ximian.com after having the same problem
also on a non-gentoo machine...

Which printer did you select in cups? Does it help if you use the ppd for the actual printer you are using? Some printers (including ghostscript) accept Type42 fonts (wrapped truetype fonts), but some (older ones) don't. Convincing the printing system that those type42 fonts are accepted by the printer while they are actually not, could very well lead to the letters not ending up on the paper.

This is a confirmed upstream bug, patch should be coming with the next release

New version (1.3.3) in portage now which fixes this problem

Fix noted (and appreciated)

Suggest export to pdf and print that while waiting for 1.3.3 to emerge :)
