Description Thomas Weidner 2004-09-01 11:43:55 UTC
Hi, when i try to run some quakeforge GL client (doesn't matter if SDL or GLX) i get the following:

Host_Init
Added packfile /usr/local/share/games/quakeforge/id1/pak0.pak (339 files)
Could not load plugin "/usr/local/lib/quakeforge/console_client.so".
UDP (IPv4) Initialized
16.0 megabyte heap
Inconsistency detected by ld.so: ../sysdeps/generic/dl-tls.c: 72: _dl_next_tls_modid: Assertion `result <= _rtld_local._dl_tls_max_dtv_idx' failed!

after some time of experimenting i found out,that quakeforge works correctly with -O0 and -O1. so on amd64 with gcc 3.4.1 (also 3.3?) CFLAGS must not contain -O2 or -O3 and quakeforge mustt be configured with --disable-optimize.

still an issue ?
Comment 2 Simon Stelling (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-02-05 18:04:28 UTC
can't confirm, no user response -> please reopen if you tried it with a more recent version of gcc
Comment 3 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2005-02-05 21:28:32 UTC
quakeforge is still pretty broken on amd64

LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libGL.so nq-glx

Exporting LD_PRELOAD makes quakeforge load, but it has not input - it has not response to the keyboard keypresses.

Comment 6 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-05-04 19:54:43 UTC
Is this still happening with the 2005.0 profile for amd64?
Comment 7 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2005-05-04 20:02:17 UTC
i dont see why the profile matters ... 0.5.5 is broken on amd64

ive punted amd64 from KEYWORDS
Comment 8 Luke-Jr 2005-05-05 00:19:16 UTC
Just a note, I have quakeforge-0.5.5 working on amd64 here... I don't recall exactly how I got it to work, but disabling optimisation sounds familiar.
Also, my install is from an older ebuild (not version): There was no 'oggvorbis' IUSE when I installed:
[ebuild   R   ] games-fps/quakeforge-0.5.5  (-3dfx) +X +alsa -debug -dga +fbcon +ipv6 +ncurses -oggvorbis* +opengl +oss +sdl (-svga) +xmms +xv +zlib 1,908 kB
Comment 9 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2005-05-05 05:46:54 UTC
i use just basic optimizations (-O2 -march=k8) and quakeforge crapped on itself when trying to run
Comment 10 Luke-Jr 2005-05-05 06:07:08 UTC
So maybe it doesn't work with -O2 -march=k8
Try w/o -O0
