I'm not sure if this is problem with audacity itself or maybe more with media-libs/vamp-plugin-sdk-2.6-r1. Audacity builds with the newer vamp plugins; just add to your package.accept_keywords file: =media-libs/vamp-plugin-sdk-2.7.1 This is the la file from 2.7.1 for comparison. It looks pretty similar to me, so I don't know what the audacity error message means. Spot on, the problem is with the .la file provided by the vamp SDK - in 2.6 it makes the mistake of not generating it with libtool. The four lines of 'comments' at the top are apparently actually critical to the operation of libtool, and their presence / absence determines whether this bug occurs. vamp-plugin-sdk-2.7.1 is already stable on amd64. At this point raising the dependency and asking for a revision bump is probably easier than trying to backport a build system patch...
Indeed. I've just tested that by deleting those 'comments' from the .la file for vamp sdk 2.7.1 and the Audacity build fails with the same error. Likewise, by adding those lines into the .la file for vamp sdk 2.6, audacity builds successfully. So obviously those comments are more significant than they appear. But I agree with Richard's last comment ... bumping the dependency revision is the simplest solution.
