Created attachment 483312 [details] media-sound/jack2-1.9.11_rc1.ebuild Firewire devices are still in use by many in the Linux audio community - including me - so I've fixed the jack2 ebuild up a little to support Firewire.
I have tested this on one of my own Gentoo audio machines with a Mackie Onyx 1640 and it shows up as expected in Qjackctl using the ebuild I attached.

Thank you for your ebuild.
please fix https://github.com/gentoo/gentoo/pull/5091 instead...
current version still has no firewire available .. flag doesn't make any difference and doesn't show in emerge -pv jack2 .. Please fix
As an alternative, you can use the jack2 ebuild from the Gentoo Studio overlay, which uses the ieee1394 use flag. git src: https://github.com/audiodef/gentoostudio Just updated the overlay to include 1.9.12 with firewire support: https://github.com/audiodef/gentoostudio/tree/master/media-sound/jack2
Apparently fixed in tree by commit d431cc2483474e83efb49b660ca463791939dd82.
