Version bump the ebuild and change 1 line inside worked for me.

Doing some local tests with wireless-tools-27_pre26 now - will commit a version bump soonish.

It works for me as well, you actually made a patch for such a trivial change?

The patch fixes two additional issues with the ebuild. Keeping the changes in bugzilla allows 
  a) other developers to review my intended changes to the ebuild and comment upon them
  b) impatient users to have a sneak peak at the upcomming ebuild

It also ensures that the changes are not lost should my hard drive crash, my internet connection die or other unspeakable events.

net-wireless/wireless-tools-27_pre26 added to portage. Thank you for reporting this.
