"""
Hi, I just wanted to voice my opinion that there should be some more
information on the devfs guide at
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/devfs-guide.xml

Many people like myself want to know why it's been deprecated and to be
reassured that it's still good stuff to use :)
"""

This is a valid request; It's been voiced several times on the forums and on IRC.

why not link to the official udev vs devfs FAQ ... it's not really our position to convince people to use udev, just to make sure that the transition (which is happening upstream and out of our hands) goes smoothly
