Description Daryl Stimm 2002-08-08 17:40:05 UTC
Openoffice 1.0.1 came out a month ago, still no ebuild. I know you guys are
busy, but we need to set up some kind of system that will alert developers of
new app releases. Like a Application database users can post to. maybe even a
forum that alerts developers of new versions of apps.

like for example if Mplayer 0.90 pre6 came out, I wouldnt have to file a bug
report, I could just go to the app database and submit it.

(not everyone can make ebuilds and not all devolopers can search freshmeat.net
all day for new releases.)

Thanks

I wont make a openoffice-1.0.1 ebuild, as I do not have the time to support
it. The 1.0.0 one have anyhow so many pending bugs ....

If anybody else wants to take up this burdon .... you have my blessing.

I would like to, but i've been toying with OOo 1.0.1 and making an ebuild for
it, and it isn't easy (and i'm not an experienced ebuild writer).

And Martin, you say there are still lots of bugs with 1.0.0? Wouldn't they all
become obsolete if there was an ebuild for 1.0.1?

I've just emerged openoffice-bin-1.0.1 by simply copying the ebuild for 1.0.0-r3
to openoffice-bin-1.0.1.ebuild and emerging. Thought it was worth a try and it
worked without a hitch. It did not unmerge 1.0.0-r3, which I did after
preliminary checking of the new version. There may be bugs around, but it
certainly installs.

why is this still open? openoffice-1.0.1 ebuilds have been made.
